Our Story

WOVE was created from a simple belief. That mothers deserve to be cared for as deeply as their babies. For generations, communities naturally gathered around new mothers, offering practical help, reassurance and shared wisdom during the weeks and months after birth.

Today, many women experience pregnancy and early motherhood very differently. Families often live further apart, support networks look different and life can feel increasingly busy and disconnected. At the same time, more women are discovering the concept of matrescence—the profound transition into motherhood—and recognising that becoming a mother is about far more than giving birth. WOVE was created to honour that journey. Not simply by supporting birth, but by creating a place where women can access compassionate care, trusted education and a community that understands the transformation they are experiencing.

Meet Nicola

WOVE was founded by Nicola Knuckles, a birth and postnatal doula with a passion for supporting women through pregnancy, birth and the transition into motherhood. After years spent working closely with women and witnessing the importance of compassionate, relationship-led care, Nicola became increasingly drawn to supporting families during one of the most significant seasons of their lives.

Her approach is calm, evidence-informed and deeply personal. She believes every family deserves to feel listened to, respected and supported in making decisions that are right for them. Through WOVE, Nicola hopes to create more than a doula service. Her vision is to build a trusted home for families—a place where care, education, community and carefully curated resources come together to support women long after birth itself.
